$6.19 for a double-meat cheeseburger, tots, and a shake.  The burger and shake could be split, but you'd each want an order of their yummy tots.  This place ranks #1 for nostalgia... and the prices are throwbacks too!

Zesto's in Omaha

Pillars of Rosenblatt - article from the NCAA website

"sitting in the same spot at 3901 S. 13th Street that it's occupied for 60 years, beams Zesto, the burger and ice cream joint that's probably the area's most famous building that doesn't have baseball played inside of it...

you might as well just say 'yes' when the crew behind the counter ask if you want your milkshake malted and swirled with fudge...

MAIN FARE:

  • The burger was good.  I just didn't like that it was on a ciabatta bread.

MAIN FARE (Burger):Close up of burger on ciabatta bread

  • The Zed's Straight Up Burger is offered with a 1/2 pound patty, so Jack and I split one.  We select white American cheese.  Burgers comes with pickles, lettuce, and tomato and mayo.  We request mustard, no mayo please.  When our server asks how we'd like it cooked, we ask for medium.
  • The meat is cooked on a wood-fired grill, and comes cooked perfectly to order.   The beef was seasoned enough to bring out the flavor, but was not too salty.  This burger is tender, moist, and juicy... and the flavor from the wood fire come bursting through, making this a GREAT burger!
  • The veggies were all wonderfully fresh.
  • The ciabatta bread is a unique touch, but being a burger traditonalist, it seems a bit distracting from the whole burger experience.  A real burger should be served on a real bun... not some fancy Italian bread.

The 2010 Burger Tour

Year:
2010

The official 2010 tour covered a few of Dallas' all-time favorite burger joints, a new joint near home, and a Plano burger joint that we couldn't quite squeeze into the 2009 tour:
